Most potters use a pottery wheel to give their work a uniform, symmetrical look and feel. Sandra Erickson goes in a different direction. She is a hand builder and her work is neither uniform, nor symmetrical. Her pottery has an organic quality and character that is equally as beautiful as it is useful: hand-build pottery as functional art.
Each of her pieces is truly unique; even when created in sets, no two pieces are ever exactly alike. That is part of what makes them so special. When a particular piece is sold, it is gone, and cannot be exactly duplicated. That means each piece is genuinely one-of-a-kind, and there is always something new and interesting to see and purchase.
